5 Tips for DIY Pool Maintenance

5 Tips for DIY Pool Maintenance

Pool owners can't always afford to hire a professional pool service provider, but there are many ways for DIY enthusiasts to get the job done.

Here are 5 tips for DIY pool maintenance that every pool owner should know.

Tip #01: Pool Maintenance Checklist

A pool maintenance checklist is a great way to stay on top of all the tasks that need to be done in order for your pool system to run smoothly. A simple list might include: water testing, vacuuming and cleaning equipment, checking filter pressure gauge / flow rate indicator, checking pH and checking calcium hardness and alkalinity levels.

Tip #02: Regular Vacuuming

Regularly vacuuming your pool will remove a lot of the dirt particles that can upset the balance in the water with time, and can even clog your Aquastaser. Pool filters are specifically designed to trap these particles as they enter into the system, but this does not prevent them from accumulating on the bottom of your pool, and in other places.  For Aquastaser users, remember, after all filter maintenance you always need to flush your pool filter from debris, before returning flow of water to your device and back to your pool.

Tip #3: Use Pool Equipment Properly

Pool owners should always use their equipment properly to avoid unnecessary wear-and-tear or damage. For instance, they shouldn't run over a vacuum head while vacuuming the floor of the pool (which will break it) or use the skimmer net to remove leaves and debris from the surface of a pool (which can also damage it).

Tip #4: Regular Pool Parts Check

Even if you're not using your pool regularly, there are still some parts that should be checked on a regular basis. For example, checking filter pressure gauge / flow rate indicator or the pH level of your pool.

Tip #5: Pool Algae Prevention

For Aquastaser users, the best way to prevent algae growth is to run your pump for a few more hours per day in the warmer months.  If you still have algae issues, the Ionizer will be the perfect solution to eliminating algae growth in your pool.
